!Jonathan Paul via www (jonathanpaul@@edshift.com) June 1996:
Speculation is that Jacob married twice, 1st Mary Hodgen, 2nd Anne
Springer. The last name of Jacob's 1st wife Mary is speculation by
Miriam Vandesteeg who sent me quite a lot of Larue material. She has an
extensive Larue collection. He address is 414 E. 4th Street, Willmar, MN,
56201.
Included in her correspondance was the following quote by (I think) H.C.
Larue: "As I told you on Apr 29 last that the wife of our progenitor Jacob
Larue Sr. was named Ann (as mentioned in his will probated Nov 1784). In
the last records received from Romney W. VA I find that this Ann was
Jacob's second wife whom he married in 1777. She was the widow of
Dennis Springer and was not the mother of Jacob Larue's children so is in
no way related to us"
I also have had correspondance with Cindi Rasmusson (related through
Jacob's oldest son Peter) , 810 5th Street, Nevada Ohio(Ind.?) 50201.
Cindy confirmed above and also stated that Mary (Hodgen?) was born in
1718 in Virginia and died between 1760 and 1765.
She wrote
"Jacob Larew moved to the Shandoah Valley area, Augusta Co. VA, after
1743. With their oldest child born April 1745, lets assume that they
were married by then - so 1743-1745 for their marriage. Good luck
finding a record of it. Augusta Co formed 1738/43 from Orange Co.
Frederich Co. was formed 1838/43 from Orange and Augusta Co.
Hampshire Co. were formed 1753 from Frederich Co. You see how things
were shifting over that 10 to 15 years. Jacob could have settled in one
place and never moved but lived in 3 different counties."
She also says Jacob died before Nov 1784 in Hampshire Co. VA. And he
married Ann Springer in 1765 in Frederick Co. VA. (does not agree with
the 1777 date).
