1975:
(Previous readings of Jacob's old, weather-beaten tombstone have been
recorded as giving 1716 and 1720 as birth years. Evidence, based on
date on Grandparents' mar., possible birthdate of Father, and John
Michael as first sons throughout this Pfautz family -- plus
circumstantial evidence that John Jacob Knutz was Jacob's
father-in-law--Kuntz came from Lower Neckar Valley also, on same ship
as the Pfautz in 1727, moved to Digges' Choice (now York-Adams Co., Pa.)
at same time that Jacob Pfautz located nearby, ca 1741-2 -- suggests
that Jacob belongs here in Family Order.)"

based chiefly on family history notes compiled by Irene McKinnon (desc.
of Daniel McKinnon, Jr., and James Bishop McKInnon) probably in the
1920's . . . The info. appears to be based on gravestones, family Bibles,
correspondence with relatives, and personal acquaintance.. . . Later in
her compilation JoAnn states: It appears he was killed in the Civil War,
altho there is some confusion about names. A letter of Josiah Jr's
mentions the death of his brother. Robt. Wyatt . . . says Josiahs'
brother'Benjamin' was killed in a battle near Hanibal and says one of his
letters is attached. the letter, tho, is signed D. W. McK. (a typed copy)
and is from Hannibal, Mo. Josiah had no full brother named Benjamin, but
it is concievable that he had a half brother by that name. No info. is
presently available concerning ch. of Catherine Harrison McK. and her
second husband."
