!Ben Franklin on Fido 8/15/94
!Va. Magazine of History & Biography, Vol. 41, Apr., Jul., Oct., 1933:
"...Thomas Buckner, on Jan. 8, 1751, was appointed guardian...1753
Nicholas Battaile is appiounted in his place...July court, same year,
James Hoomes is appointed guardian...Aug. 9, 1753, Benjamin Grymes is
appointed guardian...retained the office until Aug. 12, 1756...In the
meantime he placed his ward at school, keeping him at William & Mary
College from Oct. 25, 1754, to June 10, 1756. (Car. O. B., 1755-58)...on
Apr. 14, 1757, he chose George Muse for the place (guardian)......it may be
stated that in one branch of the family there exists a belief that there
was a fourth dau., Lucy, not mentioned in the petition of Sarah Battaile,
and that this is true seems to be supported by records isn their
possession: this Lucy mar. John Boswell Thornton, and died in Athens,
Georgia, in 1840, without issue."
