!Torrence and Allied Families, by Robert M. Torrence, The Wickersham
Press, Philadelphia, 1938, p. 484, p. 483:
"This branch of the Dawson family starts with John Dawson, who came
from the north of England, before 1700, and went to Prince George's Co.,
Md., where he evidently had a brother George. Of his children, the fourth
son was Thomas Dawson, born 1708, who married Elizabeth Laws, died
1800, a daughter of John Laws.
"Thomas Dawson's first son was Benoni Dawson, born 1742, who married
Rebecca Mackall, and , about 1782, migrated from Montgomery Co., Md., to
Fayette Co., Pa., 'where he joined his uncle George.' In or about 1790, he
removed to Beaver Co., Penn., where, on Jan. 13, 1793, he laid out the
town of Georgetown. He died in May, 1806. "
