good farm of one hundred acres . . is of German extraction, and our
subject is member of the fifth gen. in America. . . Founder of the family
came to America . . during colonial days settled in Northumberland
county, Penn. When the colonists engaged in the strife for independence
he enclosed all the sentiments expressed in the Declaration of
Independence and entered the Federal army and served all through that
unequal struggle, being under the command of Gen. Washington . . sons
and dau. of the Rev. . . . father's uncle, Nichols Brosher, was a miller in
Penn. and his grandfather, Henry, was a tanner.
