! John Scott Davenport, Ph.D.: 1 June, 1985: "Aaron . . . bought the 'Fouts
Homestead' from Henry and elizabeth (YOUNT) Fouts. . . . built a large 10
room brick house. The brick was made from soil in the west field near
the barn. It was fired at a neighbor's kiln. The barn was made from
lumber in the woods on the farm. They also had a large wood burning
over where bread, pies, cakes, etc., were baked for the family.
"Aaron was noted for having a beautiful team of horses and well cared
harness. Rachael was the lady who made large golden cakes of cheese in
a brick milk house with a trough filled by had pump. There stood a big
willow tree to shade it. They had a little dairy of Jerseys. The cheese
was sold in nearby town, West Milton, Troy and Tipp City. Oh.
"Again thei son, Henry bought 'The Homestead' when Aaron and rachael
passed away. When Aaron passed away, Racheal moved to Troy, Oh.
William now farms until she passed away."
