[2531] Thomas Moore was born in that area of Lancaster County, Mass. which later becam
Sterling, and later West Boylston, Mass. Thomas Moore along with James Wilder
served three months in 1778 in the Mass. Militia. >From June to Dec. of 1780 h
served with the 9th Mass. Regt., Continental Army. He was at West Point. He
was a private in the Revolutionary War. After service he atended Dartmouth
College, graduating in 1787. He studied divinity at Yale Theological Seminary.
He received his Honorary Degree in 1792. He was Pastor of Charlemont, Mass.
Church in 1792 (Franklin County). Later he went west as a circuit rider of Old
Redstone Presbytery of Western Pennsylvaia. On April 10, 1794 he became
Minister of Upper and Lower Ten Mile Churches in Washington County, Penn. He
remained there until Dec. 14, 1803. He was in Perry County, Ohio prior to Oct.
27, 1814. He was a minister for the Presbyteran Church for 52 years.
